Great Toys for Kids When Travelling

How do you stop children from squabbling, quarrelling, screaming, and wrestling each other while you are driving the car? Well, you can give them something to do. One of the best ways to keep them quiet and preoccupied is to provide them with a few toys. Here are a few ideas on what playthings to bring during your road trip.

For toddlers 12 to 24 months old, give them a large board book. Choose several with vibrant colours and with their favourite story or characters in it. You can also give them a magnetic drawing toy set where they can scribble shapes, images, and letters. Another great plaything for these curious youngsters is a buckle toy. This is a stuffed toy that has 3 to 5 buckles that surround its tummy. Because toddlers are fascinated with buttons and buckles, this toy can entertain your toddler for a long time.

For kids who are 25 to 36 months old, you can give them a magnetic or wooden puzzle to keep them busy. Be sure though that the puzzle pieces are big enough so that the child cannot swallow them. In addition, you can give him a large sketchbook or a portable whiteboard or chalkboard where he can draw his favourite pictures.

For older kids, give them toys that require them to role play. Action figures are great playthings but make sure you buy sturdy ones that do not pose any choking hazards. Action figures are great ways to let them re-live their favourite cartoon or comic book heroes while they are travelling with you. Finally, older kids will have fun playing classic board games such as Chinese checkers, Bingo, Snakes and Ladders, Boggle, and Chess.
